Useful Information & Links
* at 16 you can ride a restricted moped not over 50cc after completing Compulsory Basic
Training. A CBT certificate is valid for 2 years. NOTE - if you passed your full CAR test
before 01/02/2001 you do not need a CBT to ride a moped although we advise it.

* at 17 you can take a RESTRICTED ACCESS test on a 11kw (14.6bhp) 125cc. After passing,
your full motorcycle licence will be restricted to 25kw (33bhp) for two years, although you can
carry passengers and ride on motorways on a suitable machine. The restriction is automatically
lifted after the two years is up.

* If you are 21 or over, you can opt for DIRECT ACCESS and take the full motorcycle test on a
bike of at least 35kW (46.6hp). After passing, you can ride any machine with no horsepower or
size limits.
* Don't forget you will need a CBT and THEORY test pass before starting a 125 or DAS course.
